When You’re 2 Seconds From Snapping
These aren’t generic “calm down” tips.
These are the exact tools I reach for
in the moment when I feel it building.
As a mom of three kids 5 and under, and after nearly 20 years as a nurse I’ve become and expert in knowing how the to stay calm in high-pressure environments…
And even still loose it at home sometimes.
That moment when you know something harsh is about to come out of your mouth,
and you’re going to regret it right after.
If you’ve ever:
snapped → then immediately felt guilty
felt touched out, overstimulated, on edge
and thought:
“why do I keep reacting like this?”
this is for you.
These are the tools I use:
• when your kid is screaming in the background
• when you’ve been needed all day
• when you have 30 seconds, not 30 minutes
These are what actually work
when life is loud, messy, and overstimulating.
Not routines you’ll forget.
Not things that require a perfect environment.
Regulation isn’t about being calm all the time.
It’s about knowing what to do in the exact moment you’re about to lose it.
